100 years before Batman, there was Jonah Hex.  DC’s new reboot of All Star Western centers itself on this anti-hero.  It takes place in an 1880’s Gotham City thats just as corrupt and dangerous as present Gotham (not even accounting for the lack of Batman).  As a stand alone comic, for an issue one, this blew me away.  I won’t say much about it, because you must read it, the reveal at the end is more than a hook, it’s an anchor.
